Nanocomposites and Nanoporous Materials (NNP)

Nanocomposites and nanoporous materials deal with nano-architecture research with various nanostructures, such as nanoparticles, nanowires, nanorods, and nano-films, etc., and with multi-phase solid materials (metals, oxides, polymers, and carbon) or large volume fractions of porosity in nanoscales. These materials have multi-functional characteristics according to progressive physical, chemical, electrical, thermal, optical, electrochemical, and catalytic properties owing to their unique nanostructures, which can affect as an advanced factor for use in engineering applications, such as sensors, energy-related technologies, water purification catalysts, piezoelectrics, thermoresistors, electro-photonics, hit gas filtration, drug delivery, etc. This session focuses on the themes of the materials, manufacturing, functionalization, applications and is aimed at those with an interest in the current the near-term future use of nanocomposites and nanoporous materials in industrial applications.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to)
  • Synthesis and assembly of nanocomposite and nanoporous materials
  • Structure and modeling of nanocomposite and nanoporous materials
  • Fabrication of novel nanomaterials: 0-, 1-, 2-, and 3-dimensional materials
  • Innovative techniques for characterization and manipulation of nanomaterials
  • Industrial development and application of nanomaterials
  • Nanodevices for nanomaterials: fabrication and large-scale integration
Invited speakers (tentative) include
  • Prof. Shuo Bai (Chinese Academy of Sciences, China)
